Objective:

ALDP aims to increase income and access to different products by establishing, developing, appropriate and sustainable alternative livelihood thereby increasing and diversifying income opportunities. Livelihood development is viewed as an important component for improving incomes, increased foreign exchange earnings, employment generation and productivity improvement.

Project Description:

The project is basically credit assistance to small farmers or fisherfolks’ organizations. Production loans and marketing loans would be provided under this project. Production loans are intended to finance their production activities (raising crops, poultry, livestocks, aquaculture). Marketing loans would be provided for established cooperatives with good track record in credit and trading of agriculture products. These loans are intended to provide cooperatives with capital to go into input distribution and agriculture commodity trading. This way, the cooperatives can purchase agricultural products thereby providing the members with an alternative market. In the process, a scheme is built-in to generate residual savings for productive endeavors. Roll-over proceeds shall be used in for expansion or second phase operations.

The initial allocation is only Php 1.8 M, which was allocated among three LGUs: Tagum City, Davao del Sur and Island Garden City of Samal.
