DIDP Participates in Sustainable Development Training in Singapore

Participants of the “Sustainable Development: Environment Strategies for Sustainable Growth” training held in Singapore.

The training course Sustainable Development: Environment Strategies for Sustainable Growth sponsored by the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs was conducted last March 5 to March 16, 2012, and was attended by 20 participants from Asia, Africa, Latin America and Middle East. DIDP-PMO Project Development Officer, Engr. Nanette B. Digao, was sent as the participant of the Philippines. The training was facilitated by Ministry of Environment and Public Utilities under the program of Singapore Environment Institute (SEI).

Among the various topics taken up and discussed during the training course were:

ii. Environmental Protection and Management in Singapore

iii. Integrated Solid Waste Management System

iv. Water Pollution: Sources and Control Strategy and Water Quality Standards and Monitoring Programs for Inland and Coastal Waters

- Air Pollution: Sources and Control Strategy
- Ambient Air Quality and Monitoring in Singapore
- Indoor Air Quality: An emerging Health Concern in the Built Environment

vi. Legislation and Enforcement Policies of NEA

vii. Environmentally Sustainable Transport (Green Transportation)

viii. Programme for Environmental Experiential Learning (PEEL) Trail

viii-a. Clean Land Trail;
viii-b.Climate –Technology Exclusive Trail

ix. Control and Management of Hazardous Substances and Toxic Wastes

Among these topics, applications on flood control, urban development, eco-tourism for environment projects and green transportation can be applied in the Davao Area.
